Then after we went to Tali we went to see the animals. Some of my favourite animals were the lion and the cheetah but my most favourite animal was the giraffe because the giraffe had a long neck and long legs. The we saw a turtle, it was big. Then Miss Sarah said to me to take a picture of the turtle. Next we saw the bats, they were upside down and sleeping. Then we came back to school, it was fun at the zoo. On Thursday it was the zoo day. We went to the hall with our bags and got badges so they can know that we are St Pius X School when we are lost. Then we went to the classroom to learn about habitats, we saw animals that were in their habitats. Then we went to the door so we can put our bags on our backs so we can walk and see the animals and the first animals we saw were the giraffe. Then the zebras were the second animal we saw in the zoo. Then we saw the deer and then we saw the rhinos. Then we saw some lions, some that were boys and a girl lion. Then we had lunch next to the elephant. Then we had a picture next to the pretend elephant. I was so happy. I was tired in the bus.

On Thursday we went to the zoo to learn about animal habitats. First we went to go put our bags in the draw, then we went to this classroom and the lady named Tali talked to us about animal habitats. What she said was "Class, this animal is dead because it became old". Then she let the class walk to see the animals in their own habitat. The animals that we saw was a frog in a tank and we saw lizards. Then we sat down on a beanbag and she told us a few words. Then we went outside with our group. Then our group went to see all the animals in the zoo like lions and that. But the first animal we saw was the kiwi. I went with my group in a dark dark tunnel, I saw only one kiwi in there. Then we went to The Pridelands, what we saw were zebras and giraffe. Then we saw the rhinos and the springboks. After we saw the rhinos we saw the lions. After the lions we went to see the rooster and elephant and we had lunch there. Then we went to the cheetah and to the hippo in the water. After we saw all the other animals. But at the end of the day I was sad because I wanted to stay at the zoo. Then we went to the bus and we went back to school.

On Thursday we went to the hall to do our school prayer. When we finished our school prayer I got into my group. When I was with Miss Sarah waiting for Ma`ata to change her shoes we were the last ones to go to the bus. I walked with Miss Sarah to the bus. We were inside the bus and now we were at the zoo. I put my backpack in the Room 3 cupboard. Tali said to us "Is this Room 3?". Tali took us into a classroom that was coloured blue. Tali talked about animal habitats. Tali told us to look around the room. She told us to open the curtain. I had to trace the Pukeko with my picture. Tali told us to come back to sit down. Tali was asking questions to us. When she finished talking we said bye. We went out to look at the animals. My favourite animal was the elephant with the roosters. When it was lunch we had to eat our own lunch. When I saw a chicken I said "Come here Chicken". When we finished eating I went to look at more animals. When we got our backpacks the bus was there. The Zoo - By Katrina
On Thursday I had a brilliant morning because we were going for a trip to the zoo. I changed myself , brushed my teeth, my grandma gave me a healthy lunch and I got ready for the zoo. Miss Moodley said I have to go to the hall with my bag. Everyone went into the hall, they were talking. The teachers said "Shhhh" so that everyone would be quiet. I sat there in patience. I was with Ezra's mum, I was so excited. After that we went to the bus, the bus was wiggly. Soon we sang in the bus. I like singing on the bus. At last we went to the ZOO!!! I stayed with my team group while we got there. There was a woman named Tali, she was a zookeeper. Tali opened a door from outside, there were lots of animals it was a classroom. When we saw the animals Tali taught us about animal habitats. While we learnt about animal habitats we looked at the real animals and stuffed animals. After, we looked at the the zebras and the giraffe, the giraffe had a big long neck. Some of the zebra lay down and they stood up, they turned into brown zebra. They were so funny. Next we saw the white rhinos, I was so impressed that the zoo keepers saved the white rhino so that they wouldn't hurt us. When we saw the rhinos we saw a dark tunnel, the dark tunnel was the kiwi it was so SCARY!!! Vaine held my hand because she thought that it was scary. At last we were seeing the kiwi, the other one was shy, it was hiding I think. After that we had healthy lunch. The chickens were so noisy, they tried to wake us up. Next we saw the elephant enclosure, the zoo keepers save them and bath them. After that we had lunch time, I ate all my healthy lunch. Next we went to the playground, there was a dark slide. I jumped to the slide. Next I slid. After that we had photos at the slide. When I went to the slide we packed our bags and went on the bus. I was so tired, we slept on the bus when we went home. It was so much fun going to the zoo.

Gwen The Brave Hen
In a smelly swamp there lived a hen called Gwen. She laid six beautiful eggs in her nest. A hawk came by. “What’s this I see?” he said to himself. Oh I see now, it’s a nest with a hen and eggs. Yum eggs for me.” After that she got angry and she shooed the hawk away. At last she sat and sat and sat until… crack six beautiful chicks came out. And that was the end of the egg eating pest. Gwen was very, very, very happy.
